Raise Money to Provide Surveillance Cameras to the Troops Serving in Afghanistan

This website was launched with the mission of raising money in order to provide surveillance cameras to the troops serving in Northeastern Afghanistan.

The troops in that region are in desperate need of these cameras. Here is how it works: The cameras stand alone and are placed in "high value" locations in the mountains of Afghanistan. They silently take pictures and video and wirelessly send the images and video to a computer that can be miles away. At night the cameras take infrared images that are not detectable to the enemy. This allows soldiers to:

  • Monitor movement of the enemy in specific locations
  • Be forewarned of the enemy planning attacks in monitored locations
  • Limit the number of enemy ambushes by monitoring high risk areas
  • Keep forces in high value areas while still being able to remotely monitor other areas

The big advantage of this system is that the soldier can monitor locations without visiting the camera. Imagine how this could protect troop lives!

.

Have you felt an urge to help our troops but didn't know how? This is your opportunity! There are very few causes that can more directly protect a soldier's life.

Cost - The cameras cost $1000 each and our goal is to provide 30 cameras. We are hoping to raise $30,000. Imagine the impact this would have! If we can raise more, we will buy more cameras. If we raise less, we will buy fewer cameras but it will still make a significant impact. We are asking you to help.

How to help - You can help by clicking on the DONATE link to the right side of this page. Any amount is appreciated. No amount is too small or large. Every dollar spent goes directly to purchasing and shipping the camers to the troops. We are all volunteers putting this effort together and do not keep any money for ourselves.

.

It is our desire to be completely open about all our fundraising activities. So please feel free to email with any questions. We are more than happy to speak with you directly over the phone, even meet in person. We are happy to provide any additional information or verification you would need. We did not come up with the camera idea ourselves, rather, the troops in that region have expressed a need for these cameras.

More about the cameras:

  • Ability to have 30 cameras transmit to a single base
  • Color photos during the day
  • Infrared photos at night
  • Extremely low power consumption - In wireless mode you can expect to get anywhere from 300 pictures at 3.0 megapixel resolution up to 2000 pictures at .3 megapixel resolution.
  • Completely silent - no motors, drives, etc.
  • Reaction speed: .2 seconds
  • Take still pictures or videos 1 second apart at the .3 megapixel setting even at night
  • Test the battery status of the cameras from the base unit
